About the Journal

Veterinaria Italiana is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal devoted to veterinary public health and other aspects of veterinary science and medicine.

Veterinaria Italiana primarily focuses on viral, bacterial and parisitic diseases affecting domesticated vertebrate animals, including livestock, companion animals, fur-bearing animals, game, poultry, and fish. The journal also considers microbial diseases in wild animals kept in captivity or part of feral populations, particularly when these are zoonoses. We also consider papers on toxicology and poisoning of animals and oncology research that impacts animal health from a One Health perspective. Furthermore, innovative research products based on the study of interactions between the environment and animals are welcome.

We also welcome submissions focusing on both diagnostic techniques and microbial sequence data. Studies presenting new diagnostic methods, such as PCR-based protocols or ELISA, are encouraged, provided they offer significant advancements in the understanding or management of microbial diseases rather than solely describing the technique itself. Similarly, papers reporting microbial sequences, metagenomics, transcriptomics, or proteomics data will be considered if they contribute meaningful insights that advance knowledge related to microbial disease.
